@moonmehta Thx! That's high praise in my socio-informatical totally-worth-it model of what to do with time and inclination!
@patrickrhone Truth, lies, and statistics.
@Denny Right. Okay, and yes, re @khurtwilliams and connection. I think anyone would see the evident need, especially in the charged media climate many of us inhabit in extra to the rest of our lives. And I see travel as such an important freedom which should be promoted and commoditized much further than capital dares. And I see travel as the crazy resource swilling beast covered in sunscreen laughing as others burn. It's a tough nut. 🔩uh...🌰
@odd I too. I hope folks don't feel too pounced upon. I'm a little much, even for me! (hi, @pudding !)
@Denny @khurtwilliams I've always understood a vacation as an essential human need. Call me crazy.
@khurtwilliams Cool. Too much of anything is, well, too much! 🙃 and it sounds like you could really benefit from reconnection.
@khurtwilliams well, that’s true everywhere. Kind of my point.
@khurtwilliams I believe I do understand, as much as I am able. Perhaps all my sprachenjammin' is just confusing things, and me as well. Lets go for clear and concise:
All that you say about what may befall an immigrant is worthy of attention, to be sure, but I don't believe it should be the focus.
Identity, culture, and the inevitable tensions and contradictions when they bump up against each other, is a fact of life in the US of A. This frees us from the tentacles of inherited class and its attendant evils, in principle anyway.
I see many who appear completely ensconced in their cultural niche, blissful from the outside, but when their private experience is shared it is often as fragmented as those who find themselves surrounded by “difference“, on the daily, from the get go.
@skoobz No, that can't be, no no no—oh, yeah! Shake Your Rump-ah!
