@kq This is such a good question. I do, but only sometimes, mostly read fresh as it arrives. Search is expected or at least fairly universal, and I’m happy using that, but also happy to find tags/categories to browse, especially when there is 'a lot' of material. They provide a map of sorts as to where the author would like to direct my attention, as others have observed above.
But on the other side, I don’t have enough there to need categories, and my use of them is very eccentric. Almost everything is tagged as 'information'. Oh. Okay! That helps, it’s info is it, on your internet? SO visitors can poke around the loose and lazy taxonomy, but lose nothing if they do not.
